RECLAIMING ILFORD NORTH FOR THE PEOPLE

I’m standing as an your independent MP. I will always advocate for the issues my constituents are worried about at Westminster. These pledges come from months of engagement with you the community. Our pledges are rooted in a deep commitment to justice, equity, and community empowerment. I aim to restore political integrity and ensure that the voices of the people are always prioritised.

NHS: PROTECTING OUR NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE

Our NHS is a treasure.

Healthcare is a universal right for everyone in the UK. The most vulnerable people should be at the heart of the NHS. Without this universal right, inequality in accessing healthcare would deepen, and a more unfair UK would result.

My Immediate Priorities:

  • Protect the NHS from privatisation

  • Ensure NHS staff are listened to, protected and receive a fair wage

  • Eliminate costs for essential GP visits and life-saving treatments

Prevent Privatisation: Ensure the NHS remains a public service by adequately funding core services and addressing patient demands without cost to the patient. Use money earmarked for the private sector to level up the NHS and end systematic underinvestment.

Prioritise Workforce & Increase Pay: Support staff by preventing burnout, addressing toxic workplace issues, and adjusting workloads based on reasonable needs rather than financial pressures. Raise NHS staff wages, listening to recommendations from medical organisations and unions.

Avoid Top-Down NHS Reform: Instead of reforming for the sake of reform, prioritise patients and medical professionals in decision-making. Listen to NHS leaders and provide them with the tools to safeguard the NHS, rather than assuming the government knows best.

PALESTINE: PURSUING JUSTICE AND PEACE

The genocide in Gaza and the indifference shown by the two main political parties is unforgivable. Politicians who turn a blind eye to human suffering abroad, show the same disdain for us here in the UK. It is clear that they are solely in the pursuit of power, no matter the cost to humanity or how it is achieved. I will always have the courage to stand up for justice here in Ilford North and abroad.

My Immediate Priorities:

  • Immediate ceasefire in Gaza to halt the ongoing horrors and protect innocent lives

  • Implement an arms embargo against Israel to prevent further escalation

  • Prosecute those responsible for war crimes to ensure accountability and justice for victims

Ceasefire in Gaza: Advocate for an immediate ceasefire to halt the ongoing horrors and protect innocent lives in the face of Israel's offensive and indiscriminate assault on Gaza. A permanent ceasefire is crucial for protecting civilians and building the groundwork for a future Palestinian State.

Arms Embargo on Israel: Implement a UK and international arms embargo to prevent further escalation and misuse of weapons against civilian populations, joining those showing moral leadership while Israel is under investigation for genocide.

Prosecution of War Criminals: Prosecute those responsible for war crimes, including the killing of journalists, aid workers, healthcare workers, women, and children, through independent investigations. Hold far-right Israeli government members accountable for inciting violence and advocating genocide to avoid setting a dangerous international precedent.

CRIME PREVENTION: CREATING SAFER STREETS

I believe Ilford North should be a place where everyone feels safe and secure. Tackling crime and working to prevent it from happening in the first place is a cause that's near and dear to my heart. I have been a victim of a burglary, and I know how it undermines your sense of security. A community with less crime is a happier, more vibrant, and more connected place for all of us to live, work, and raise our families. That's the kind of Ilford North I'm passionate about building.

My Immediate Priorities:

  • Work with local police and community groups to make streets safer.

  • Set the standard for ensuring every woman's right to feel safe and equal.

  • Address root causes of crime through mental health services and educational programs.

Collaborate with Police and Community: I will advocate for police to meet regularly with schools and community groups to build trust and address low-level crime. The Prevent programme should be replaced with a more effective solution.

Expand Youth Services: Increase funding for youth services, mental health resources, and educational programs. Engaging youth positively can protect them from criminal activities and prevent crime by ensuring no one is left behind.

Make Streets Safer for Women: Prioritise making Ilford North safe for women. Support police investigating violence against women, invest in their training, and provide access to specialist healthcare and facilities to ensure all potential prosecutions are pursued.

COST OF LIVING: ADDRESSING ECONOMIC INJUSTICE

The rising cost of living affects every aspect of our lives, forcing many to make heartbreaking choices between basic necessities like heat and feeding our families. As working people buckle under the burden of high taxes, it's disheartening to see politicians prioritising corporate profits over the well-being of our community. This crisis touches us all, and it demands action.

My Immediate Priorities:

  • Advocate for fair wages and affordable homes

  • Protect working people and stand up to the greed of water and energy companies

  • Fight for economic justice and policies that reduce financial burden on families

Economic Justice for Families: I will advocate for policies that alleviate financial strain on families, ensuring no child grows up in poverty. Targeted financial assistance programs will create a more equitable society where all families have the resources to thrive.

Fair Wages and Affordable Homes: I will advocate for fair wages to improve people's ability to support themselves and their dependents, reducing welfare needs and increasing social mobility. I will also support policies that help young people and first-time buyers afford homes.

Combat Corporate Greed: I am dedicated to combating corporate greed, especially in the energy and water sectors. Privatisation has failed to deliver on its promises, and I will hold the government accountable for ensuring essential utilities are returned to public hands.

EDUCATION AND YOUTH SERVICES: EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION

My work at Frenford Youth Centre has proven how much young people can achieve when we give them the right support. Investing in education, mental health services, and community initiatives empowers the next generation to grow into self-assured, competent leaders.

My Immediate Priorities:

  • Increase funding for youth centres and community programs

  • Ensure access to quality education for all young people

  • Provide resources for mental health support

  • Reward our teachers’ tireless efforts with a well-deserved pay increase

Increase Funding for Youth Centres: Invest in youth centres and community programs to provide opportunities for physical fitness, local friendships, confidence building, and meaningful outreach and charitable work.

Ensure High-Quality Education: Guarantee access to quality education for all, from early years to higher education and adult learning. Address the failure of SEND provision, give schools resources to recruit and train high-quality teachers, and provide teachers with a well-deserved pay rise.

Increase Funding & Reduce Costs: Protect independent faith schools from proposed tax increases, scrap university tuition fees, and expand workplace and degree apprenticeships to reduce the burden of education costs.

Provide Mental Health Resources: Expand mental health support services and advocate for increased funding and resources for children and adult mental health services & psychotherapy to foster healthy minds and improve learning outcomes.

ENDORSEMENTS AND PLEDGES

My policy platform represents a call to reclaim politics for the people of Ilford North. We can build a fairer and more equitable society by addressing critical issues such as human rights, healthcare, economic justice, education, youth services, and crime prevention. Together, we can ignite the change we crave and put the needs of our community first.
